Here's a spread from the February issue of Sojourners magazine, featuring my illustration. I highly recommend the insightful article by Walter Brueggemann. (Copyright 2009 by Julie Lonneman)
I'm a fine artist and freelance illustrator who lives and works in Cincinnati, Ohio. My illustrations on themes of spirituality and social justice regularly appear in magazines such as America, Sojourners, and St. Anthony Messenger, as well as on the covers of books and newsletters. Liturgy Training Publications of Chicago published a collection of my work, Clip Art for Sundays and Solemnities, in 2003. I'm a regular contributor to the monthly ecumenical worship resource Celebration, and for eight years I supplied their weekly Sunday graphics. In 2007 I completed an art library of over 260 lectionary-based images for Augsburg Fortress Press, and in 2008 created the illustrations for the Lutheran Study Bible. As a recipient of a Individual Artist Grant from the City of Cincinnati in 2009, I created a series of ten relief prints based on the streetscapes near my studio in Northside. My illustrations are featured on the current (2011) Year of Grace calendar published by Liturgy Training Publications.
