Lately as I find myself away from my studio and supplies for extended periods, I've been brushing up on my digital skills so I can make art anywhere. Here's a recent image that will appear on the cover of the September issue of Celebration. My inspiration was Psalm 63.
I've also discovered a printmaking studio, Runaway Press, here in Bellingham so I am hoping to continue to work in more traditional media as well. Nothing can replace the beauty of ink on actual paper, in my opinion.
I'm a fine artist and freelance illustrator currently dividing my time between Bellingham, Washington, and Cincinnati, Ohio. My work has regularly appeared on book covers and in magazines and newsletters in North America, Europe and Australia. In 2007 I completed an art library of over 260 lectionary-based images for Augsburg Fortress Press, and in 2008 did the illustrations for the Lutheran Study Bible. As a recipient of a Individual Artist Grant from the City of Cincinnati in 2009, I created a series of ten relief prints based on the streetscapes near my studio in Northside. My illustrations were featured on the 2011 Year of Grace calendar published by Liturgy Training Publications. I recently illustrated a three year cycle of Sunday readings for Living Liturgy, published by Liturgical Press.
